    Cleaning of Cluster Wording

On my '66 the dash cluster inscriptions such as "lights", "wipers" etc are starting to get very dull. In the past I've used simple green and a tooth brush and cleaned them up. What miracle cure has anyone come up with to brighten these up. Can they be re-painted? If so, suggestions on paint color and how to do instructions. Appreciate any help

Unfortunately, they are not painted. The entire cluster housing is chromed, and the letters simply lack black paint. On my '64, the chrome is completely gone in a couple of spots, and I am thinking about trying a silver Sharpie Paint Pen to go over the letters that now have a copper tinge to them.
