    Exhaust System Part # Identification?

A complete 2-1/2" carbon steel exhaust system with GM part numbers stamped on them as they appear on the mufflers.

    What year are they for?

    1st set-GM 3945736

    1 1 164 9 A

    2nd set-GM 3945737

    3 2 209 8 A

I think that you will find that the numbers are 3845736 and 3845737. These are the left and right rear exhaust pipe/muffler assemblies applicable to 1964-67 Corvettes with N-11 off-road exhaust.

      Joe,

Having the part numbers stamped in them, does that make them GM Service Replacements,or Originals?

The SERVICE muffler/pipe assemblies were the same as originals for the off-road system. There may have been some differences with respect to stamped numbers. However, I would expect that this difference, if it existed at all, was one that happened over time. In other words, if one had purchased a SERVICE system in, say, 1965, it would have been identical to the PRODUCTION pieces.

          Joe,

The Off Road System was not available in 1963?

Can they be used for 1963's?

As far as I know, no 1963 models were actually built with optional the N-11 system. However, the system you have can be installed on a 1963. One caveat, though: some modification of the pipes may be necessary to clear the "tool kit" wells (in the floorbaord behind the seats).

              Joe,

              Thank you for the info.

I will be installing them on a 1964?
              No Caveat for a '64.

No, they should install cleanly on a 1964.
