Hi all, the front bumper on the wife's 73 was repaired about 4 years ago and has now started to split again. My body man thinks I should replace it. I have read the archives and looked through the standard catalogs and have found 3 "types" of replacements, Urethane including one listed as "GM" and the other 2 types are flex fit "bendable fiberglass" and hard fiberglass. I want to stay away from the hard fiberglass as it is not really close enough to stock appearance. The car is a daily driver and not show quality but I want to keep it as nice as possible. Any suggestions?

Re: 1973 front bumper
If you're not going for judging, the flexible bumper will be fine. Some fiddling might be required to fit properly.
The GM repo parts are new and are good for 20-30 years or use before they meet the same fate as your existing bumper.

Re: 1973 front bumper
Mike; Thanks a million, The car is not judged but I do want it to retain the current appearance. If the "GM" urethane (at $700) is the available repo I will put that on, if the repo's are not actually the factory stuff then I may go with the "flexable fiberglass" stuff. Again thanks for the help. Anybody else?- Top
