Not To Complicate the Issue
I see very little to dispute that this is not an original stamp. Once more who is to say that this pad is not a variation and what it is being compared to (so called standard ie another car close in sequence) is not itself questionable. I agree that correct evaluation of the broach marks, which are not clear on this pic would include removal of the heads. The "damage" to the pad may have been in the casting which also may have caused misalignment of the VIN. As far as a database it would have to be an unabridged database and that ain't happening. The official response to this pad from the picture is you can "neither confirm nor deny" from the data and I would lean towrd confirm. As far as restamping I recall that on C3 base cars as far back as 1981 and it was not limited to C2's or BB's. I'm sure it didn't start then either.- Top

Not really an "official" response is it......1967 VIN:14639 with 0224HT IS questionable.- Top
