heater control valve 71 BB AC

I think my heater control valve is bad, and leaking. I am geting a lot of heat in the cabin. I thought that the vac line was not on the valve, so I took a look at it an it is wet with some green color on the valve. then I started the car an drove it water was going down the frame rail. I got back under the car the hose is on tight. do those valves leak like that when they go out? If it is not the one that came on the car it is a old delco. at least 15 years old. went to the parts house to get one. the one they show has a fiting on one end of it, I told him that it did not have a end like that on the old one. just a push on type. he said well this is what shows on the PC, an the delco he said would be the same it even had the same part#.

bought one for my 1970 at ZIP

I bought one for my 1970 BB AC at Zip about 5 years ago and it seemed identical to the one I removed. I think it was original as the one on my car still had correct date coded tower clamps holding it in place. It has standard slip on hose nipples for both heater hoses that attach to it.
