C2 Exhaust Tips

I have 2 NOS exhaust tips with the part #A3819573 stamped into them.One of them the part number is along side the bottom of the welded seam at the point of muffler attachment with its letter and numbers 1/16" wide and 1/8" tall with the letter "A" at the muffler end.The other has the welded seam at the 3 o'clock position if it was attached to the muffler looking at the rear of the car.The stamping size is 1/8" wide and 3/16" tall at the point of attachment to the muffler with the number "3" at the muffler side,and stamped upside down from the other number of the other tip.

Question is can two NOS pieces in its original GM boxes with the same part number designated on the boxes mean that two different parts vendors was used, or one is a later design?

Does anyone have any answers to this?

Yes, no Originals had the part numbers stamped in them. Only service units carried this feature, and they were placed at the descretion of the vendor.

Bill,

In reading the JG it states most have visible stamped part numbers,which can be seen in the area where the extension clamps to the muffler.

The word "most" maybe then subjective to being original or service units.

agree with clup. part # stamped in tip = NORS, not NOS. mike
