    rod bearings & Regional?

A friend and I were cruising to the St. Louis Regional yesterday in my 60 Fuelie (top down of course) when we thought we heard a noise. To make a long story short, I lost the number one rod bearing. Hopefully the crank can be saved. You have to look on the bright side, we were only two hours from home and could have been four! Don H

Hello Don....sorry to hear of road issue... What are the symptoms when you spin a rod bearing....? I guess that leaves that old dependable 65 coupe!

        Peck,peck,preck,peck,peck, knock, knock, kncok

knock, knock, screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhh. BLAM! Dead silence.

If you're lucky, you get the clutch down and you don't hear that last sound of the rod punching through the block or the pan. The engine will be locked up and you'll see very hot white oil oil smoke coming out the crank breather.
