My 1957 Fuelie has what could be classified as moderate pitting from rust on each side of the main frame rails. When it had a frame off restoration the frame was properly prepped and painted and looks great except the pitting wasn't dealt with.
My question is, I'm considering whether or not to do anything about it. I have a 1954 with no pitting so the pitting on the '57 is a little annoying to me since the '57 is the better car (top flight). I've seen people strip the frame and use a light coat of body filler to fill pitting and once in while you see decent frames for sale without any pitting (but then the frame numbers won't match the VIN). Others say it's typical of east coast cars and not to worry about it. BTW, the integrity of the frame is great.
I'd lean toward using a light coat of filler and repainting it. Am I being to anal here?
