Joe! Nice try but I already have it, and what are you doing looking under accessories ? Here is a NOS dealer accessory for a 55 Corvette I found on e-bay . I've found so many neat items for my 55 Corvette dealer accessories , to bad no other Corvette NCRS people care about GM accessories but me!

Their missing out on so many great items to use and show off, even the NCRS judges were amazed what was offered for a Corvette and I loose so very few points and many can be removed at judging time to still get top flight.
People other then NCRS guys will pay twice the price that a original gas cap NCRS is worth.

Here is my NOS Remington 12V dealer accessory shaver for 55 to 57 Corvette, they go for more then a Corvette air cleaner.
I know few NCRS people care, but some day they might

        Roy--
Since this is the National Corvette RESTORERS Society, I'm not sure that you'll ever find the platform for your push for accessories. Maybe you should begin a NCAS.

            Corvette News Supplement..circa 1958

Five pages of Corvette related Accessories featured in a Corvette News Supplement..almost 20 years before NCRS was born.

The General thought it was important.

                Re: Merchandising Give away items

I had as much fun collecting everything possible from the 59 Merchandising Book as I did preparing a car for the judging field. I even found an original 1959 Merchandising Book. Anyone ever seen one of those.???

I'm not pushing anything just to bad NCRS is the "only" organization that don't recognize dealer accessories. ( many other cars are considered restored too)You see one module year Corvette , you've likely seem them all,, only color and engine sets a part one from the other.

I for got to add that it would be nice and rare to see some 53 to 55 Corvettes wearing original GM dealer accessories wire wheels , that cost more for "one", then four original Corvette iron wheels and hub caps. Yes! I took a hit of zero at NCRS on mine and that's OK with me
It's worth it to me to have and show such a rare accessory and if I ever should sell the vett I still have a set of original NOS hubcaps.

roy: nearly all of us into Corvettes are here for the enjoyment the cars provide us. some of use(the majority) restore our vettes such that they are as close as possible to the configuration they left Flint , St louis or Bowling Green when they hatched. not only do the majority of we NCRS's subscibe to the "bone stock as it left the factory"philosophy, the club itself, when founded in '74, shared, and still shares, an identical philosophy. when a NCRS member shows up on the NCRS judging field with his/her pride and joy, its a given fact that the car WILL be judged per the "as it left the factory" rules the club established in '74. should an owner, such as youself, show up on the NCRS judging field with a heavily "dealer installed(doubt the dealer that initially sold you 55 installed all your accessories but that is neither here nor there) Corvette, then the clubs rules, in place since '74, will result in deductions. you are in the minority when it comes to trying to get NCRS to accept dealer-installed options as being non-deductible . i for one really enjoy the majority your posts except for the accessories issue. why not sell all the accessories on ebay if you want to continue having your vettes judges per ncrs standards. regards and hope to see you in texas.mike

Mike I'm going to play devils advocate here and give you something to consider. Perhaps in 1974 the powers to be in the NCRS didn't consider the GM policy of having the dealers install certain options, which were actually called accessories. Most of the GM accessories have GM part numbers and could/would have been ordered at the time of the initial customers order and therefore were technically part of the birth certificate of the vehicle. It was GM's option to have the dealer install the accessories for various reasons which could be construed as an extension of the assembly plant operation.

I never said NCRS "HAD" to accept accessories or that I was upset ,I took a hit having them in my 55 .I knew it would going in and took the hits and never complained about it to the judges that judged it (ask them)!
Why do you think I never have my vetts judged but for the 50'th in Park City for the 55, we even left early knowing and not expecting any award.( now I feel bad that our 55 took a first flight) I have always supported NCRS from their beginning .Weather you don't like accessories being a true NCRS follower ,I dint think it was wrong to show or mention them. Please in the future don't open any of my postings here because I may again mention or show another accessory again.
I think of you as a good friend but you read to much in to my mentioning accessories.
Now if other are offended too , may I say sorry !

I understood from the judging guide's that the NCRS standard was about the status of the car after dealer prep. Couldn't any of the standard accesoires not got fitted during this prep phase and therefor technically be worth additional points?

No! The dealer only added things that were left off for "shipping", I remember the dealers show room wall displaying all or most of the factory aproved accessories you could buy for that year car that you could add to your car. The 55 Chevy for example never came with a continental kit on a car from the factory , it was always dealer added.
When I ordered my 78 silver anniversary Corvette I requested any other accessory that GM offered and when I went to pick it up the accessory 4 piece luggage was in the back area, along with the trailer hitch harness.( but I had to buy the GM hitch from the parts department and add it)
The 78 came (from the factory) with heavy duty Radiator,Alternator, sway bars, shocks and a added front lower air ram rubber shield to increase air flow but not the hitch . ( so is it factory????) if shown with the hitch on????You don't find that mentioned in the JM for 78
That is the reason some people think a Corvette came from the factory having accessories already in or on it.

Any way just follow the JM and for get about accessories that I talk about. It's just a fun thing to show people.
