Eric:
I may be wrong but I believe those should be licensed by GM and therefore have access to the original GM drawings or whatever was used to publish those in the first place. Art Armstrong is a better source that can tell us exactly how the legal aspects of licensing works but your repops should be precise duplicates with minimal variations.Tom Russo

Re: C3 75 OEM Decal Variaton
Decals have been a problem since they started reproducing them. Very few are on the correct material, have the correct font and information, and are of the correct size. Some of the early sellers of decals were actually selling across the counter GM decals.
Why someone does not reproduce 100% correct decals is beyond me. Most are done on computers today.Dick Whittington- Top

I totally agree. Folks can produce things like a counterfeit $100 bill so that very few could tell it from the real thing. Yet these comparatively simple labels seem to be impossible to get right. Of course, it's very possible that there were variations in the originals and the ones reproduced are not necessarily the same as some origials that some folks might find on their cars. I certainly hope this is the reason.
With a color laser or inkjet copier and ONE original label one ought to be able to produce an absolutely perfect copy. Get some of the correct label material (usually a matte or glossy white finish plastic which just has to be out there) and one should be able to have a perfect reproduction. It just doesn't seem all that complicated to me.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Repro labels are for the most part not like an original at all. I have done a study on 73 labels and the originals in my sample were all alike. The repo label for the locking rear end has less words on some rows than the original. I thought the vendor made them wrong so GM wouldn't file a lawsuit.Lyle

Re: C3 75 OEM Decal Variaton
Thanks for all of your information. It's too bad there are people out there selling decals/labels that are not original reproductions. It's also too bad that we've come to a point in time where the reproduction has to be prefaced with the word original. It used to be that the word reproduction was just that.... an exact reproduction of the original, not a close facsimile.
I have decided to do my research and view as many original decals as possible. Afterwards I will compile the information and present it to a friend of mine who makes pressure sensitive labels. He has an old printing press and will most likely be able to reproduce the decals for me. It will probably cost me an arm and a leg but at least they will be correct.
Thanks again to all of you!- Top
