Original 68 exhaust tips?????

Regardless of length, etc. of the exhaust tips used in 68. It has been my understanding that the originals had only 2 slots at the clamp end of the exhaust tip. It has been my observation that all service replacement tips that I came across had 4 slots in that same area. Any opinion or observations regarding this would be appreciated.

I cannot find my originals, but I tend to agree with you. Just another little fact of the 68's

Thank you for your responce. I seem to remember that I confirmed this fact at one time. But like so many other things I forget. Let me know if I can add anything to the next judging manual. There are so many little things regarding the 68. One can only work on one thing at a time or he gets lost in the fog of it. Take care, Terry

I looked at mine today and they have 2 cuts, not 4. Were they only available in 68 that way? My car is fairly original but I have not owned it long enough to know if these came with the car or were replaced at some later date.

Rich, I am fairly certain they only came from the factory that way. 69 might be similar. I have had service replacemnents but they had four cuts in them. I am glad I still have mine. Take care, Terry
