        In-plant replacement engines were run down the engine dress line just like the first engine was, stamped the same way, then a hi-lo delivered them to Heavy Repair, picked up the original, and it was sent back to the engine plant for credit after the Engine Dress Line utilityman stripped the parts off it and put them back on the line. Tied up a Heavy Repair stall too long to strip the old engine and dress a new bare-naked engine in Repair.

              Just got back from Bloomington and saw this post. I was hoping that somone would ask the ID number of the car. Amazing, 12345. Until I saw the ID number of the car, I had lots of questions, but now I'm just amazed (in a good way) at the stamping and ID number of the car. I hope someday to see it in person, thanks for posting the picture. I guess Corvettes of many years had 12345 ID numbers.
