    camshaft specs

I am trying to find the original specs for the cam in my 1967 400hp 427. Does anyone know a quick way to get these numbers? I have my motor torn apart and no idea when the manuals I have ordered are coming. Thanks, Rob

I don't know just how comprehensive a specification sheet that you are looking for. However, I can tell you this much about the cam:

    lift----0.461" intake-----0.480" exhaust

    duration @0.050" lift-----214 degrees intake-----218 dgrees exhaust

    lobe ceneterline------ 115 degrees.

Joe, Is this credible enough to go with to Comp Cams? I have some books coming, but cannot find any info locally. The guy building the engine doesn't have the info either. I do appreciate your input. Rob

        Rob-----

Comp cams won't need any specs for this cam---they have them. However, I don't know if they reproduce the cam shaft as a regular, stocked item. Your best bet is to order a kit from GM under GM #12364055. This is a Crane-manufactured reproduction of the original cam and it also includes a lifter set. It's a very good value, too.

This cam MAY have the grooved rear cam journal. If so, the machine shop will need to solder up the hole in the rear cam bearing and re-drill the hole to 0.060".
