intake reskinning recommendations

I've decided to send out my aluminum intake(69 L36) for reskinning and was wondering where I should send it.

The archives mention Jerry MacNeish and Don Dorfman so I was wondering if I could get some feed back(good or bad) on those who have delt with these gentlemen.

Also if anyone else does this type of work I'd appreciate their contact info.

Jerry MacNeish reskinned my manifold...

and rebuilt/restored my original carb. A picture is worth a thousand words. PT

Jerry repaired a cracked aluminum manifold for me and after he repaired and reskinned it you couldn't detect the repair. Excellent work and fast service.

Jerry also repaired and "reskinned" a cracked intake manifold for me. Great results and a great guy to do business with. No experience with Don.

Intake reskinning recommendations

Don reskinned the intake for my '66 L79 and it came out great. I trust Don and I would gladly use his services again. It was about 4 years ago that Don did the work on my manifold and it cost $90 inc. S&H.

Don did my 2x4 intake about a year ago for my '59 as well as my valve covers that had been lightly bead-blasted. Looked like originals when he was finished. Excellent work. Don't know if the process they (Ron & Don) used are similar or not.

I am not sure that Don Dorfman is still doing manifolds. He operated as ASL in Nevada. Last time I heard he had taken a real job in the Northwest.

Over the weekend I cleaned my intake with Greez-Off by 409, biodegradeable de-greaser. While it isn't as perfect as a reskinning job, I think it did a pretty good job. My intake was stained with gas and grease and most all of it came right off with a little scrubing.

Ya I also heard that he had moved on but I've contacted him just last week and he still does them. He charges slightly less than Jerry but he is much closer to me so that is why I'd like to use him as long as the quality is the same. I had hoped that others could comment on his quality but since he doesn't advertise he must have a small customer base. He sounds like a decent person so I hope it turns out.

Don did several projects for me several years ago. Top quality work and a very good guy to work with
