Re: Where to properly place an NCRS decal?

    Enlighten me please.
I thought the whole point of NCRS was to restore or represent cars as they left the assembly line.
I don't think they left the line with an NCRS decal, or a killswitch, or fire extinguisher.

        Trying to encourage safety

You would think they would give you extra points for having a set of NEW repro tires, after all, driving on 40 year old tires is much more dangerous than not having a kill switch or fire extinguisher!

I agree Bill. I think a system of awarding judging points for non original items is wrong. I'm not saying it's not a good idea to have these items but it just doesn't have anything to do with the quality or originality of a car. Make the items mandatory, or forget them entirely, but don't allow these things to have any affect on the judging results of a restoration.

It reminds me of an NCCC show I attended in the mid 70's. There was a point bonus to everyone that donated at least $10 to some "save the turkeys" fund.

                  Re: Trying to encourage safety

So why did everyone give me such grief at Kissimmee in 2001? I had lots of safety equipment on my '66.

I should have gotten lots of points. I had the fire extinquisher, kill switch, roll cage for increased occupant protection, roll bar padding to prevent injury, tires spec'ed to much faster than anyone here can go, steel braided lines on critical items like oil, fuel, brakes, and so on, fuel cell to prevent fire on occupants like Duke mentioned a week ago or so.

Hmm, learn something every day. If the JG stated "decal or plate" it eliminates the whole worry about where to stick it, and it's readily removable.

They add points for having a NCRS decal or NCRS plate but don't take off points for having a state license plate on the Corvette that wasn't on the vett coming out of that factory ! Hummmmmmmm

                            Sweet ride!

Why the grief? Maybe it's because your Corvette is faster than theirs . You know, it's like a size thing, after all, a fully restored base motor car is only so fast! That's why everyone rolls their eyes at my unrestored crusty L89 !

Hey, I'm just kidding, I like all Corvettes.

                              Roy:

I have the owner history back to the seller's name in 1979, but your name isn't on the list. Do you still have yours? What was the VIN?

Dick McCullough had a very extensive restoration done to it and was awarded a Top Flight 10 years ago. The car has literally been stored ever since until I bought it. It still looks like a brand new car.

I want to drive it once in a while, but I'm afraid to. I need to find a good driver quality '57 that won't give me chest pains when driving in traffic. I'm scared to death some's going to run into it.

I can feel your pain! I went through that also and then said to my self , hell I restored it for ME NOT NCRS and I got more satisfaction over the 31 years a had it then I would ever get showing it , tho I did after years of driving it like my 55 and also took a top flight entering it once then no more NCRS judging . ( even if my Corvettes got no flight , once is enough for me) I'm just a weird guy that enjoys driving and having many people see them.
