67 bigblock hood

Has anyone seen a hood like this before? A friend of mine just bought a car with this same hood on it, and in this auction, another party wrote in and said that this was a second generation GM replacement hood. Please tell me that GM never made anything as crappy as this hood for someone to put on a Corvette!

I don't know who made them, but I remember seeing them on Sting Rays in the mid '70s and the hoods were new. They may have been a GM issue since almost all aftermarket ones were either green fiberglass or yellow fiberglass and rough on the underside with a gray gelcoat frame.

I remember buying one of these in 1975 from the local Chevy dealer. Came in a GM box with a part sticker on it. I returned it and it took 5 more tries before i finally got one that was "correct".

Well, I have never paid that much attention to C2 cars, but I had never seen one of these hoods until 3 weeks ago, and now I have seen 2 of them since then. I am just amazed the the General would have been involved in building such a POS! I am not sure what they are made of, but it is clearly not a press-molded part. It looks like maybe it is an injected molded part made of possibly some sort of glass reinforced thermoplastic.
