points conversion

My electronic points conversion went out after about 3 years. I kept a set of Accell #8104GM points with the 32 oz. spring as suggested by so many on this forum and was able to drive home. These points run every bit as good as the conversion and do not float with the 097 cam. What I don't like about the conversions is that, unlike points, they give no warning of failure. I am sticking with points, they never let me down. Thanks from all on this forum for the endless supply of information and great advice.

By the way, I was wondering if anyone has any photos or brochures of my car. It was on display in the Klassix car museum in Daytona for about nine years. It is a 63 Daytona Blue convertible and was for some time in one af those theme displays like the burger drive in. I would be glad to pay. Thanks again, Frank

Your experience backs up what I have been saying for years about these conversion parts. Thye offer no performance advantage and introduce a new failure mode. A person only needs to become stranded once to learn a lesson.

I went back to points after an electronic distributor left me on the side of the road. No problems since going back to original configuration.

I installed a Mallory Unilite in my 70 LS-5 circa 1976. I sold that car off in 1982 and just bought it back in 2004. The Unilite unit was still there! No one has had to mess with points in that car for 30 years!
