C2 Conv Window Alignment / Top weather strip

    66 C2 Conv,..

Ok, I put my wing window in and adjusted it so I have a nice seal between windshield and wing. Now my wind up window glass is not forward enough, I actually have a small gap and the glass flops around. I replaced all the seals and gaskets and felts.

I'm also concerned that it may not line up with the convetible top. I have new weathther strip coming in for that.

Is there a process or proceedure adjust all of this? How do I adjust the glass forward? I'm sure there is no perfect way of getting all this just right, but I' would like to get a decent seal and not have my glass fall out.

    Thanks
    Joe

    Joe,

I did my windows about 6 years ago so I'm going by memory but I think I know your problem. It sounds like your window is not being held tight were the bottom edge of the side glass fits in the track. If that is the case it should be corrected first. The only adjustment I recall is the vertical track/channel at the rear of the door. For roll up height adjust there are two rubber bump stops.

      Wayne,

How did you correct the glass from falling out of the bottom track. I have that problem on my 67. Would one just put some adhesive in the track.

        Jerry,

Check with a shop that installs auto glass. There is a special tape that is used in the track (like a liner) and then the window is pressed into the channel. My was worn to the point where I could slide or pull the window right out of the track. I'm sure some of our vintage suppliers also have something to use. Check around.

          In addition.....

If it is coming out of the vertical track(s) then it needs ajustment of those tracks.

There is a cork "tape" that is used to pressure fit the glass into the regulator channel..that channel might be able to be "bumped" along the bottom of the glass with a rubber mallet to get the proper fit. Once the channel is moved the other stops and guides may need to be re-adjusted. Another option is to glue the glass to the regulator with urethane adhesive and primer.
