Re: C2 - 1963 - Shock Washers???
Collin, See a recent post on this subject that I started.Basically the front top shock washer is the same as the stabilizer bar washers. See your AIMS manual and your will see the same part number for both. The OD of the washer is about 1-3/16". They are a minature form of a typical replacement washer that you see that has an indented hex in the center. They are not at all like the '65 washer. These are shaped like a large dome and cover all of the rubber bushing. The '63 style are small and therefore are seen "smashing or crushing into the rubber bushing. I have two for my '63 front shocks but none for the stabilizer. Supposedly one of the big name repro catalogs has an exact repro but I just returned a bunch of them because they are not the real deal. The nut above this washer is special also. It's about 9/16" thick and has rather flat ends. I don't know if the nut finish is shiny or black. Also the finish on the washer I assume is zinc or cadmium but I don't know for sure. It may be blackened. Hopefullly someone will clarify the plating. John- Top
