How do you dissassemble a 69 wiper motor?

Well I'm not planning on taking the whole thing apart because it was working just fine but I would like to get the winding cover off so that I can get it replated.

I took the two long machine screws out and the whole motor wanted to come out. I seems like the cover is stuck to the field windings. I tried to pry the cover away from it but it seems pretty solid so I thought I better ask and see if someone here has had this cover off and how it was done.

Any thoughts?

A trip to the old car graveyard and get one to pratice on is one way to learn how they are made.

I've had other wiper motors apart in the past so I have an idea of how they are put together but this is the first corvette one that I've worked on.

Other covers have come off with no problem so that is why I'm puzzled as to why this one won't let go. Are the corvette ones different in this respect?

Whats the best way to get the motor assembly to slip out from inside the end cap?

The parts I found on other GM wiper I thought were the same design. I have some in my shop and will check it out today as to how the cover comes off.

I wiped out one wiper motor I had and the cover never came off.

The procedure is well detailed in the Chevrolet Factory Service or Overhaul Manual; I've forgotten which one it's in, but it's in one or the other.

I seen nothing holding it from coming off and all I have left is the cover on the fields. I would say mine is rusted on as a B*H did not budge it.

PreLube 6 and a plastic hammer. Soak the mating surfaces overnight. Take the plastic hammer and tap the housing gently. Keep rotating the motor and tapping. Sooner or later it will come apart.
