Are the front brake hoses still available from GM....and would hoses in AC Delco packaging necessarily be identical to originals?

Re: '66 front brake hoses
Rob - If the hoses are still available, they are a more current version. They probably will be smaller in diameter, slightly different in length, and will definitely have the more current DOT crimping of the ends fitting to the hose. Botttomline in my opinion, they will work just fine but won't look at all like your originals. Pete- Top

Re: '66 front brake hoses
Rob:
When my 65 Coupe was judged at Waco, I lost a few points because my front brake lines were not original. Someone at the show directed me to Bill Colorico who fabricates original brake lines (Non-D.O.T.). Bill is a mid-year judge and very knowledgeable. I purchased a pair from him and will install them on my original calipers prior to San Antonio.
Now I am not sure if 65 lines and 66 lines are the same...or if Bill fabricates brake lines for other years.

Re: '66 front brake hoses
Makes you wonder why we're looking for "original" 40-year-old brake hoses in the first place when they're a major safety hazard (not like non-DOT judging tires, that can be easily changed before and after the judging field).- Top

Re: '66 front brake hoses
Further to John H's reply above, I thought I remembered seeing a paragraph in the Judging Manual or in the ('65) Tech Info Manual and Judging Guide to the effect that no deduction was to be made on brake hoses because of the safety issue of keeping the originals.
But (dang) now I cannot locate any reference to "brake hoses" anywhere in the above. Not a word of mention.- Top

Re: '66 front brake hoses
I don't think there is any mention on brake hoses in the mid-year Judging Manuals. The point deduction is for the difference in configuration of metal end that screws into the front calipers. The 1965 & 66 are different from a 1967 (which most replacements resemble). I don't think the chassis judges are deducting for the double crimps on the hoses- just the confirguration of the hoses metal end.
