    shipping tiedowns for ZO6

The GM "R" hooks that I use in the frame holes to tie down my ZR-1 don't seem to fit the holes on my new 2006 ZO6. Anybody know what I need to tie it down to the trailer?

I also found that the "HockeyPuck" "bolt heads" that I made for the C5 are a bit too big.

Carl, I haven't personally checked it out for the C6s, but I would be VERY surprised if GM redesigned the tie down holes. They have been using the same designed reinforced holes and "R" hooks since 1963 that I know of......maybe even longer, for ALL of the vehicles lines that they produce. The towing industry would go into a funk and bitch to high heven. Are you SURE that you are using the right holes?

Art, I will try it one more time. I had no trouble getting my R hooks into my ZR-1 when I left the Auburn regional. Stopped in Bowling Green on the way home and picked up the new ZO6. Tried for quite a while to get the hooks in the holes, but did not succeed. ???????

Tie them down by the wheels

Art the way to go is to use the nylon straps that go thru the wheel, any towing center carries them. Phil 8063

I believe I read someplace that they are tying down the C6s with what amounts to tire nets -- or something like that. I'll make some inquiries.

We had a C6 Z06 on the lift at the St. Louis Regional, and while I didn’t specifically look for the tie down holes, I didn’t notice them either. It was remarkably smooth underneath. We spent most of our time looking at the R8C markings on the bottom.

Use the DESIGNED tie down locations.......

Phil, Have you ever used "R" hooks and the GM designed tie down locations? For some reason, I think not.
I have and I have also used the tire nets and the "R" hooks have the nets beat all to hell. I can tie down or un-tie my 65 in less than 10 minutes and be assured that it won't be dammaged or move in any direction.
I haul my 65 in an enclosed trailer behind my motorhome and have used it as a winter "beater" in FL,AZ CA, NV, TX, MO, WO, WI, NM, MI, MN, NY and a few other states and Provinces. About 25-30K miles and never had a problem--------------it's the ONLY to go in my book!
Sorry I think you are wrong................JMHO

                      my friend

that races always straps the wheels only, he does not want to load the suspension. Sometimes he drives thousands of miles, but even on short trips wheels are strapped.

Years back a stock car racer told me they adjust ride height on their cars by removing the shocks and bouncing on the car, this will change the coils and lower the ride height.
