    1957 Trunk/Deck Lid hinge

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the hinge for the trunk ??

The "slide lever" does NOT slide down and therefor touches the trunk mount causing the deck lid to rise up when I close the trunk. When I close the "deck lid" the trunk also goes up.

My understanding is that the "slide lever" is suppose to go down as the trunk is closed. In my case it does NOT and this causes it to touch the trunk mount causing the deck lid to rise up.

Attached is a picture of the hinge and maybe this will help clarify my problem.

    Thank you in advance,
    Mike

    Re: 1957 Trunk/Deck Lid hinge

hi mike. i noticed nobody is responding. and this will probably not be much help. i have my hard top on so i couldnt go check a few things. your comment that when you close the deck lid, the trunk goes up sounds correct. i know it is designed to automatically close the trunk if you should happen to try to open the deck lid, so your comment fits in the reverse motion. it looks as if the hinge has been "parked" in that position which is not normal. try shuting the trunk action and then trying to open the deck===this should have no affect on the trunk position. also, i believe it is designed that if the deck lid is open, the trunk can not be opened. this is quite a sophisticated assembly===rumor has it duntov himself designed it. i would be reluctant to take it apart. good luck. re. d.
