Cleaning up my 64 N11 exhaust system and noticed the rear hanger was painted black, which I may have done in the 70's. What color should hanger be??
Also the rubber on one hanger shows some white while the other side is balck, again What color should ruber be??
PS the metal parts are marked "PM"
Thanks for help
Alan - I would expect the finish on the metal portions of the rear hangers to be natural initially and after a while be corroded, i.e. rusted, to some degree depending on the environment the car has been driven in. That's probably why you might have painted them.
The white on the rubber piece is from a white wall tire. I've seen numerous examples of original hangers with white on the rubber piece. They apparently used tire side walls as the source of material.
