    63 tripodometer

I need to replace the gear that is in my speedo for my trip odometer on a 63 corvette. Has anyone done this work before? besides taking out the dash , Are there any hints to having it go smoothly. I have a service manual and it is not shown. Any help is appreciated. I have the correct parts for replacing.

      Joe,

Taking out the cluster is easy but replacing the parts and calibrating after replacement may prove costly. Each instrument tech spends thousands on calibration and test equipment.

Take out the instrument cluster and send it to an instrument tech to get the job done properly.

Joe....just a thot. When I had my '63 cluster done the tech left the cable to the tripodometer unhooked because he explained it was the basis for all the problems associated with the odometer/trip odometer not working. He went on to explain that there was a warpage issue in the cluster itself. I tend to believe this theroy because both my '63's quit working at about 45k and my '64 at about 47k. Question for you is does either odometer work ??? GOOD LUCK , Frank
