    62 fuel injection air cleaner

I realize there are two versions of the '62 FI air cleaners. One has the big X which is a carry over from the 58 to 61 for the early cars and the later has a small X on the cover. Question: On the outside of the main body of both style air cleaners is there any difference in the configuration? Is it possible to swap out covers meaning put a later style cover with the small x on the earlier style body? Another way of putting the question is that if you installed a later style cover on the earlier style air cleaner would it fly thru judging? Not trying to cheat but this question was given to me and I was expected to come up with the right answer and could not. I do know there are two styles of elements. Dr. Mike McCagh covered these air cleaners many years ago at a seminar but I must have fallen asleep. John

    John, It is my belief...

...that both bodies are identical in every respect. So, yes, I think you can swap lids with no identity crisis...
