Glass work judging

I am a glass technician..Date coded glass is supplied to me..I install it as best I can. No wrinkles or gaps in the gasket..SS fits tight..corners line up.

Recently I was informed that points were docked because the glass was "too good". I don't understand.

How are these things judged? What do I need to do.. or not.. need to do in order to get a perfect score on the glass work? Must there be gaps in the SS? Does it need to leak? What's goin on here?

Try to get additional details from your customer. If there really was a deduction made at an NCRS judging meet, the judge must explain his comments in full.

The windshield needs to apear the same as the day the Corvette was picked up at the dealer when new. The dated glass can have the letters not the same size or not sanwiched but etched. I know on original 73 windshield glass their was a cloth like material in the seal area and I know of no way it can be put their today so this could be a deduction. One thing for sure don't plan on every judge to make the same deduction as they all have at least one area they know real well and other areas they may have doubt and the owner gets by without a deduction.

I have a repop windshield and you can not even see the numbers on it now. it is like they left it blank. all that glass is not worth the money they want for it. for a few points!
