    Door Hinge Pins

The drivers door hinge pins and bushings on my '82 are completely shot. Getting new ones was no problem but installing them looks tricky. Anybody out there ever done it? Can I get by with just unbolting the hinge from the door and leaving the hinge bolted to the body? Is there enough slack to do it with disconnecting all the wires to the door? How hard is it to drift out the pins and bushings? Am I setting myself up for a major nightmare?

    Re: Door Hinge Pins

Rob, it can be done without removing the door. It is somewhat of a time consuming job. A small cutoff tool like a Dremel tool could be used to cut the pin off and expedite the job. Be sure to support the door. You can find pins and bushings at your local parts store. They are common to all GM vehicles of the era.
