55-56-57 Air Cleaner

I'm posting a NOS REAL original one to show that the spark arrester support is spot welded "three times" to the lid and not having a brass ring which a repro. Has holding them to gather plus the hole is larger. Also the original's bottoms were painted a gray color. This is for my 55 Corvette so it don't have the egg depression the 56 and 57 have.

Last summer while looking in the NCRS Driveline a guy in FL. Was selling 69 Corvette parts and the last item he said he had was a NOS 55 air cleaner in a box , but is vary , vary expensive and call. I called thinking it was gone but he said no one called on it. I asked what is vary vary expensive he said $500.00
Well I was shocked to say the least and wired him the money , two days later he called me asking what was so neat about the air cleaner because he got 30 calls offering up to 3k for it , my heart sank but he said he already sent it out to me.
