Re: Nice idea Patrick, but
That's OK.
I've got a couple more radiator cap articles before I'd ever consider starters. I think I'll leave it to someone else.

Rebuilt Starter
Found a P/N and date code correct starter for my 1973 a couple years back and was going to rebuild it myself. Upon closer examination I found the word 'rebuilt' stamped into the case at one end. How would this starter be judged/graded?

Re: Rebuilt Starter
Very simple answer... The reference standard in Flight Judging is how the car was built by the factory and delivered to the original owner repleat with then current dealer prep and NO option additions/deletions. So ask yourself, would the starter, as delivered new, have been stamped REBUILT?
Of course the answer is no. Therefore, judges will look at each component in a five axis universe (Finish, Date, Installation, Configuration and Completeness) taking 20% of the available originality points for each axis violation. Unless you fill the REBUILT stamp with something like JB Weld and repaint the case, kiss 20% of the originality points on this component bye bye...- Top

Re: Rebuilt Starter
With all due respect -- I would think that the entire configuration axis is not defective. I would tend more toward 5-10%, but then that is me, and those kinds of differences of opinion are not out of the ordinary.Terry- Top
