Members,
The fifth edition, 1965 TIM and JG states that the non-power brake master cylinder body and metal lid are both painted semi-gloss black. It does not mention the two hold-down, leaf springs. Are they also painted or plated and left un-painted?
The latches are also painted semigloss black for 1965. I see a lot of 1966 covers and latches in zinc dichromate (yellow cad), but since I have no 1966 TIM&JG, I'm not sure if this is correct. I would think that the manufacturing process would be the same for 1965 and 1966, but it might have changed.
The 66 TIM&JG states that the non-pb MC can be either and still be condidered to be correct. After reading every post I could find about the subject, I am confident most believe it should be painted semi gloss black (including the latches). I was told Krylon 1613 was the best match. I went with it and I'm happy with the results.
