Flake, scam artist , or just a NY jerk?

I was going to bid to win this car on eBay:

I e-mailed the seller and asked him to please send me his phone number and tell me a good time to call for a 15 minute conversation about the car. I had some questions and I wanted to make sure there were no misunderstandings. I also gave him my phone number in case he preferred to call me.

I really wasn't prepared for his response. He refused to talk on the phone! He said he would only call the auction winner.

Hmmmmmmmm.... am I going to send thousands of dollars to some guy who won't even give me his phone number? I'll have to think real hard about this one....

    Naaaaaaah! Screw youse.

Oh I dunno Jerry. He seems to have an excellent feedback rating. Well over 66% of his six ebay transactions received positive feedback. Four outa six ain't too bad, is it?

A 66.7& feedback rating is one of the worst I've seen on ebay. It's a wonder ebay permits the seller to remain a customer.

        Steeeeerike three

.666 puts you on the cover of Sports Illustrated, right? He's had quite a run in his entire six transaction career, hasn't he?

Untouched!!!! I count 12 things under the hood that are wrong, and that's in the one poor picture!

That's why the posting says, "This car has a 100% unmolested body and chassis!"

Doesn't say anything about the drivetrain be correct or original. Just my two cents, but I would be carefull.

I try hard to be reasonable.

              My questions were:

              1. What engine is in it now?
              2. Is the original VIN tag on the steering column?
              3. Is the title lien-free and in your name?
              4. Does this car run well enough to safely drive away?
              5. Will you pick me up at the airport? Which one?
              6. How do you want to confirm my payment is good so I can leave with the car?

To me this is basic crap about buying a car long distance that can best be settled in a back-and-forth phone conversation. Why would an honest, normal person refuse to give me his phone number (or to call me) to discuss the sale of a multi-thousand dollar item? I can only conclude he's dishonest, abnormal, or trying to hide something. Accordingly, I'm washing my hands and feet of this auction.

I just got an e-mail from the seller

Perhaps he is an NCRS member. He says:
"IT SEEMS YOUR ONE OF THE FLAKEY ONES LOL! THE CAR IS A REAL ORIGINAL
UNMOLESTED CAR! WITH ORIGINAL EVERYTHING! WHATS FLAKEY ABOUT THAT?
I HAVE MANY CORVETTES IN MY COLLECTION, I KNOW VETTES! AND I KNOW ABOUT
THOSE *******S SELLING GARBAGE AND CLAIMING THERE GOLD! ITS HAPPEN TO ME ON MANY OCCASIONS."

Somehow I'm still unimpressed with his approach to selling "VETTES!". He needs to work on his spelling too. And maybe cut back a little on the caffeine.
