    Interior Paint Help

I am redoing a 61 with red interior. the person before me painted all trim grey. What type of paint should be used on the fiberglass and the metal parts? I purchase the red dye from Corvette America and test sprayed a panel over grey primer. It can out flat and a completely different red then the original dash metal. Any suggestions? Thanks, Joe

    Joe,

I'm reasonably sure the paint should be laquer, at least it is on my '58. The gauge housing, kick panels, heater/radio fiberglass, gas tank cover area and underside of the decklid/trunklid/trunk was all the same paint. Although I think on a '61 the whole trunk area is body color. Hope this helps.....Best Regards from Connecticut, Mark

The DuPont sheet for 1961 calls out the red interior paint as code # 2967 acrylic lacquer.
