Members,
I looking for information to interpret the date code on a Bendix 2225032 master cylinder. The numbers that appear in the bottom are 8-5. Does this mean that it was cast in August, 1965 or is the date code more complicated than this?
One of mine is "070", another is "183" but the latter is on a Bendix casting 618967 (not 2225032), so it may not be original, in spite of the Julian date (approx July 4th) being within a month of other castings (Aug, Sept 1964) on this car.
Wayne,
Thank you for your reply. I've owned my '65 since 1970 but I can't be certain that a previous owner did not replace the master cylinder. My car came off the line on March 3 or 4.
For now, I think that I'm going to put the 8-5 MC back on the car. Perhaps I can learn more about Bendix date codes when Carlisle rolls around.
