Help with Engine Block

I need help with identifying an engine block on a friends 63. It has 3959512 casting. I believe this to be a replacement block because on the pad it has CE 9 B394 the rear casting date looks like f 25 9

Could someone help identify this engine and then also tell me what motor should be a base car 63 swc serial number 20940 (date codes and casting number)

Keith, Can't help much on the CE l3959512 block, except to say it was a 62-67 327 replacement motor, and the F 25 9 cast date, is most likely June 25th 1969. A base motor (250hp) 1963, should have the typical 3782870 block. In that serial number range, the block would most likely have been cast approx G 5 3 (July 5th, 1963 and engine assembled between July 6th and 16th,1963 (FO706 - FO716). The engine code would have been RC for a manual trans or SC for a Powerglide. Hope this helps. Dave
