    best wax/polish

does anyone have an opinion as the best product/(brand) to use on any metal or fiberglass car finish. I have read that the kind of product that allows the water to run off is superior to the old concept of the water beading up just asking thanks

      Paul -

Everyone has their own favorite product; I like Meguiar's "Gold Class" liquid - ez on, ez off, great gloss, lasts for a season.

my favorite is to keep the old vette in primer and when it needs freshened up, i reprimer. BTW, i'd rather replace a clutch than wax the exterior. mike

Re: best wax/polish -- Black Magic

In this this months issue of Consumer Reports there is a article rating waxes.
Black magic is at the top of the list (BM48016)-- found it at Pep Boys for $7.00 I used their top rated wax back in 1990 (which was Nu Finish) on a new car and the paint was like new (almost) when I sold it last year.
You have to re-wax the car after every 6 washes.

Well, six washes for me might be every ten years or so...since I haven't washed it since it left the body shop 1 1/2 years ago.

I'm Gonna Sound Like a Dinosaur Here, But

I still like the good ole' Simoniz in the yellow can. It is 100% Carnauba, and lasts a long time. Yes, it is a bear to remove, but, the way that I use my Corvettes, I only have to wax them every three years. They shine like glass, and the water just beads up and rolls off. I keep the cars "fresh looking" between waxings by applying Mother's "Showtime"........occasionally, while detailing the cars for shows.

These cars are driven, not trailered, and sometimes get rained on.

                Paul,

I have a story for yo......I use "Liquid Glass", while a friend was over one day he decided to detail his chevelle ss. He had a can of sray paint (BLUE), and was shaking it up, un beknowing there was a puddle of paint had accuminlated around the base of the nozzle, while he was talking and shaking, he was throwing it all over the front of my 67 coupe. I yelled for him to stop
Scared him silly) as i was rushing to remove the spallters, and was running down the headlight buckets, bumpers, i used a alchol drenched cloth and removed every bit of paint. So I swear by "liquid Glass", not swear at it. It is some tuff stuff. Thanx

Ain't it funny when people say their Corvette has never seen the rain , I always thought water was the same thing, guess they never ever wash their Corvette.

I've never been able to afford to have a car I didn't drive - rain, snow, whatever. My understanding about driving in the rain was - like driving in the snow up North - not the concern for the water coming down from above the car, but what was spread all over the bottom side (where even a fiberglass car can rust!)
