    C2: What is this?

    Hint:

    1. Last five of the stamped number is 40433

    2. The part was produced when Michael Hanson was 20 years old, possibly within 6 months of his twenty first birthday.

Bingo gets the story. Michael, you might as well fess up.

    Having fun,

                You're still pretty sharp Michael,

                but no cigar.

Gold plating was pretty close, but the base of my original 67 S/B fuel pump was being zinc plated for dichromate. The jury rigged setup was to keep the aluminum top out of the plating solution, and to avoid getting the the solution into the internals.

I had a base and internals from a replacement pump recrimped onto the original top. They even transferred the orginal inlet fitting from the old to the new (welded it on). Since the process of recrimping and welding ruined the base finish, I thought I'd replace the finish on the base.

Now to cleanup the aluminum, and I'll have a like new old pump for the next time I judge my 67. If it doesn't work, at least I'll have a nice coffee table piece. Since the 40433 fuel pump, didn't even make it to service, this one should be pretty rare.

The original base actually had pinholes corroded in it. I guess that's why it leaked.

I hear that someone is putting out an investigation on your birthday, Michael.

Obviously I am just joking. Looks like a nice plating system. Something is getting a face lift. Terry
