Battery went completely dead before I even got a chance to disconnect it.I finally got an ignition switch today and put it in but still the same problem.It's like this circuit is constantly in the on position. What am I missing here? Anyone? Help!

YOu have a short between a +12V wire and your coil. I'd start looking at the wiring from the starter to the coil, just as a guess.Bill Clupper #618 -

There are two wires on the (+) terminal of your coil - a white cloth-covered wire (from the ignition switch), and a 20-ga. yellow one (from the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid). Neither wire should have power on it with the key off; check them individually and trace the one that shows power to find where it's shorted to another wire carrying battery power.Comment
