When installing a new dash pad on a 61, does the excess vinyl in the front go under the windshield rubber gasket or between the gasket and the bottom windshield stainless? Thanks

Re: 61 Dash installation
I glued mine into the chanel and let the windshield help hold in place. You only need to glue in certain areas, not the whole dash pad. The pad has been in for a couple years with no movement.

Lay the dash pad down on the dash, using the speaker hole as a guide. Push to Pad into place for the windshield glue area is key to holding the pad into position. Cut slots into outer edge flap above the windshield gully about 3-4 inches apart. Put glue on the outer edge flap of material, and the gully. Using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the material as you go. ( a heat gun is fast, be careful not to over heat and remove the material grain. Do short sections at a time and in the windshield bend area, shorter flap widths help to keep the pad smooth at the top.- Top
