    C1 vacume canister location

when the General installed the windshield washer system on cars as an option, were the holes in the driver side splash shield pre punched at the time of manufacture or did the assembly line drill the holes (random locations)at the time of installation of the canister. I have viewed 2 cars with the option and they both appeared to have the canister mounted in slightly different locations on the shield. I have replaced my shields with new repros and the holes are not present.

Sure sounds reasonable (Dennis & Mike's comments) because if you flip to the AIM section where the WS Washer components are being installed there's NO NOTE instructing assy workers to drill holes, or the size/placement of the holes to drill...

Interesting. I doubt GM owned a drill motor...

...well, almost. I was amazed they actually did hand drill the (RPO) radiator rubber side seals for the 3 (each side) Robbins clips.

Thanks for the responces! in light of this does anyone know the correct location for these holes, Would like to get it right! short of scrounging around for a set of old shields to take the measurments off?
