I'm looking to purchase a complete exhaust system for my '67. I have only found two sources for the welded pipes and mufflers. Allens and Paragon both offer these. Allens describes their mufflers as off road. Anyone had experience with Allens under car exhaust? Just how loud is this system, I know their side exhaust is way too loud for my taste. Is there another source out there I am not aware of?

Re: 1967 Exhaust System
A GOOD muffler shop that bends their own pipes should be able to fix you up with welded pipes and mufflers of your choice. I'm not talking about the "franchise guys".
Pipes are bent per your originals or per prints. I had some made for my Mopar and they were perfect.....- Top

Re: 1967 Exhaust System
Keith,
I purchased Allens aluminized 2-1/2", undercar, off-road welded system for my 1964 equipped with 327/300. My car is a convertible, and it is not loud at all. The system fit is good as long as you take your time during the install. My only complaint is that the muffler outlet piping is too long and the exhaust tips stick out too far in my opinion. I bottomed the exhaust pipes all the way into the head pipe joint. If put on three identical systems on three different cars and they were all too long on each car. By removing 1/2 to 1 inch of pipe material from either the head pipe or the muffler outlet pipe with a saws-all before installation will give you plenty of adjustment when installing the exhaust tips. I removed pipe material from the muffler outlet pipe as the system lined up dimensionally correct per the AIM.
Best Regards,

Re: 1967 Exhaust System
I'm pretty sure the Paragon system IS supplied by Allens. I installed an Allens system on my Vette - fit was dead on. They have mufflers with different number of baffles so you can 'adjust' how laod you want it. Give them a call !!!- Top

Re: 1967 Exhaust System
Keith
I have installed two sets of off road Allens systems within the past couple of years. One on a 63 and one on a 67 350Hp car. I would say the fit was good although I too experienced that the right side pipes were just a shade too long to be called perfect. On the 63 it was off enough that I took it up to my friendly muffler guy to get it adjusted a little, this was after I had removed a little length myself, but was still not happy with the fit. The 67 fit much better but the right side was still a little off.
Regarding the sound, they are not too loud for my taste, but that may not help you much. I do not think they a very "loud" at all. As a comparison they are not quite as loud or as "throaty" sounding as the old stock GM system. They sound a little tamer in my opinion.
If Keith M. will bring his car to San Antonio, maybe he will let you hear it firsthand.- Top

Re: 1967 Exhaust System
Keith, you might not remember but you heard my car run at the Wildwood regional 2004, It was a marina blue coupe 435. I have Allens off road system on it and you commented that it sounded loud. The system fit nicely. I would give them a call and discuss options. Tom- Top
