    Stinger paint shrinkage

I had to repaint my 67 stinger a few weeks ago. I used lacquer with a thinner and the final results looked good. However, now when the hood gets hot (from engine heat and/or the sun)I am getting areas of shrinkage or "crinkling". So far I have be able to wet sand the problems away but it is getting very iritating. What causes this and what did I do wrong during the repaint? If I have to redo it I do not want to make the same mistake twice.

    Thanks.

    Re: Stinger paint shrinkage

The hot thinners in lacquer will penetrate the base causing these type problems. It usually occures when the thinners were of the slow ( hot temp ) variety.
