    C-3 suspension

    Hey "GANG"
I was looking at my car one day and noticed that the gap between the top of the tire in the wheel-well and the bottom of the right front and rear fender is about a 1/2" difference from the left. Also, the trim height is higher on the right side by 1/2". GM mechanics said to me that the suspension is a tricky thing to figure out.

Question : can and how do you adjust trim height?

: can anything be done? or am I just wishing?
    Thanks, Ken.

    Re: C-3 suspension

    Ken------

My 1969 exhibited the condition you described from the day it was new. I complained at the time and the factory representative said that the situation was within factory specs.

There's no practical way to correct it. I think you'll find that the cause of the condition lies in the body and/or body-to-frame mounting and not the suspension. Folks assume that it's in the suspension, but it's not. It can often be "corrected" by suspension "adjustments", but these are ill-advised. In doing so, one has to put the suspension out of symmetry or spec in order to correct what amounts to a "cosmetic" problem. I'd never do something like that; it's a foolish trade-off.

By the way, when I measured the suspension-related dimensions for my car, it was near perfect. So, I was sure that the problem had nothing to do with the suspension being "out of whack".

Thanks Joe, I couldn't figure it out, 46k miles and original suspension, and again I think you have the right answer.

      Thanks, Ken.
