    C2 Headlights

My low beams on my 66/427 are not coming on all the time. I had trouble with the wire harness plug on the firewall before. I pulled the plug, shot some CRC on the terminals and it worked for a while. Now my low beams work about 50% of the time and when they are working, go on and off regularly. When the low beams are out the high beams will work. Are the high and low beams on two different prongs in the plug? What can I look for? Thanks in advance

Yes, hi and low beams are separate circuits. Start first by making sure the prongs on the lamps and the socket contacts are clean. While you can do a 'modest' job of cleaning oxidation with spray can chemistry, the best way is to take a wire brush to the surfaces.

The terminals inside the connecting sockets WILL come out. Like a fish hook, they're meant to install and 'snap' into place. You use a jeweler's screw driver or paper clip to release the mounting tang and the terminal will slide out the back of the socket for inspection, replacement or cleaning.

Other related fault areas include the main wiring connectors (on the firewall in front of the driver) and the dimmer switch itself. The dimmer switch is frequently overlooked and there are several circuits that mount there.

Last, once you've cleaned oxidation on interference fit contacts it REALLY helps to coat the surface with a little silicone grease (Radio Shack) to prevent the return of oxidation.

Try CRC on conection on bulbs themselves. That did it for me. Don

As Jack mentioned, the dimmer switch can often be the culprit. I had a very dirty dimmer switch that gave me identical indications as your car. I pulled the dimmer switch out, cleaned it with contact cleaner, exercised the button multiple times and then sprayed a light shot of light oil into it. No more problems.
