What type of paint should I use to paint the fiberglass panels and the center dash section on a 61 Vette? Should I prime them first, and with a lacquer primer? Should I use the vinyl dye, lacquer or the new urethanes? Should they have a gloss finish or satin. I need help! Thanks, Joe

Re: Interior Paint
Hi Joe:
You NEED a judging Guide which will provide you with type of finish information along with other invaluable information you will eventually need.
Loren already answered one of your questions saying, "The DuPont sheet for 1961 calls out the red interior paint as code # 2967 acrylic lacquer".
The surface pre finish depends on the quality you hope to achieveand what your intentions for the car .
Vinyl dye is suitable for vinyl only.
Best of Luck.

Re: Interior Paint
Check with your local paint shop for Dupont vinyl paint, it is by far the best paint on the market for use on any flexible interior vinyl, plastic or fiberglass panels. It is avalable in flat/mid gloss/ and gloss finish and can be mixed in any custom color. You shoot it straight from the can with no reducing. The new paint will not attack the old finish because there is no Lacquer or enamel thinner used.- Top
