I want to put my 88 on stand's so that I can take all the wheel's off to clean the back side of them. I will also clean anything else that need's it at this time. I do not see a good location, any suggestion's? Thank in advance.
But don't place either the jack or the stands on the floor pan like the ding-a-ling that owned my '84 before me. It can not only put big dents in the floors but can cut thru the pan - like mine was when I got it.
You can put a floor jack on the differential or - carefully - under the control arm or the front crossmember in order to raise the car so you can get the stands under it.
Thanks guy's for the help,I don't see any arrow's Mike.I do see where it say's jacking location but someone has done that and left some minor dent's in the floor. How about the steel cross bar's under there, would that be safe? I cannot see anywhere that I would trust without doing damage.Tom
Corvette Central sells a jack pad that will fit in you floor jack when you remove the pad that's in the jack now. With this pad you can safely lift the rear of the vechile on the bottom of the rearend housing without damaging anything. BUT, this pad will only fit a factory exhaust system that use a stock rear y-pipe. I have a flowmaster setup on my 86 and I can not use the pad from corvette centeral that i purchased.
