I went to a local parts house where the youngest guy there was at least 60. Told these old farts (I'm one too so don't be offended)the whole story. After hearing some of their tales about what coils can do, I too was convinced that was my problem. I decided to replace the condensor while I was at it. The result - runs perfect, better throttle response and my idle speed increased 100 RPM. I'm very/cautiously confident that the coil was the root of all evil. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions. Dennis, you owe me a burger :-)
