    C1 gas cap

C1 owners looking to buy a gas cap need to note that the locking tabs are inline with the cover fingers ,( seen here)and many know with some repro's it's not inline and they can lose points if it's not.
But to tell a repro from a original even if the tabs are inline is to look at the two rivets , in a repro the rivets will be flat, the original will be rounded as seen here, tho the sealing ring is a replacement ,(should be of a brown look). Little things do matter!! So look or ask when buying a $300 cap.

Roy, great stuff and excellent points. There are alot of repros floating around out there right now for $100+ and they aren't too bad. But you pointed out some key differences that I wasn't aware of. Fortunately I have the original cap for my '56. Thanks for the lesson.
