    Trim Rings/Contact Points

I have a Top Flight(Chapter) 1968 Corvette. I have a question on the Trim Rings and Clips for this car.
On page 33 of the judging manual it states that "One of the clips always mounted at the Valve Stem."
I have never been deducted for this at the Chapter Level but my clips are not "dead on". All of them
vary but the farthest one is out is 1 inch from valve stem. At a national meet would this pass? If not
is the only solution is to find a trim ring with a closer clip? I'm not sure if mine could be moved without
doing more damage than good. Please advise. Larry Evoskis NCRS#16324

    Re: Trim Rings/Contact Points

Perhaps the JG should read 'near the valve stem'... The Guide is trying to distinguish between early and late versions of the trim rings and the late style rings moved the clip locations approximately 45-degrees.

You really can't move the clip locations because the outer bead of the trim ring is crimped around/under the outer lip and it's pre-notched to align the mounting clips....
