    Midyear Convertible Top Frames

I know that there are some differences between the early and late midyear convertible top frames. I have a 1967 with an early top frame. What are the differences between these frames? I believe that some of the bows are different. My frame is in need of a rebuild. Can I make this early frame like the later midyear frames?

    Thanks for any information, Rodney

Rodney --- (Supposedly) the only difference in C2 convertible frames is the shape of the # 1 bow (above the driver's head) being 3/8" dia. round section, from '63 thru early '65 (VIN changeover point unknown), versus the thru '67 rectangular section of 5/16" x 1" (like the #2 bow). This info is found in the RESTORER, Summer '91 edition, and (at least) in the '65 NCRS Tech Manual and Judging Guide.

As your frame needs a rebuild, it may be easier to buy the correct configuration of frame at a swap meet, and trade/sell your early edition.
